USP students in SoC may select the following ways to do their Independent Study Modules:

  • UROP: This is a two module year long research project. Counts as 2 ISM modules.
  • Students from the Department of Information Systems may choose to do CS3214 Information Systems Development Project. Counts as 2 ISM modules.
  • Students from the Department of Computer Science may choose to do CS3215 Software Engineering Project. Counts as 2 ISM modules.
  • Students may do CS3106 Independent project (application form). Counts as 1 ISM module.
  • Students matriculated from 2007 and onwards may do CS2306S Problem Solving in Computing II. Counts as 1 ISM module.
  • With agreement of the course lecturer, students may convert an existing level 3 or 4 SoC module into an ISM following these guidelines.

Students using CS3214, CS3215 and CS3106 as ISMs must fill in this form by the third week of the semester. Students doing UROP must fill in the regular UROP application forms. Students converting regular SoC modules into ISMs must fill in the form found here.
