USP students in SoC may select the following ways to do their Independent Study Modules:
- UROP: This is a two module year long research project. Counts as 2 ISM modules.
- Students from the Department of Information Systems may choose to do CS3214 Information Systems Development Project. Counts as 2 ISM modules.
- Students from the Department of Computer Science may choose to do CS3215 Software Engineering Project. Counts as 2 ISM modules.
- Students may do CS3106 Independent project (application form). Counts as 1 ISM module.
- Students matriculated from 2007 and onwards may do CS2306S Problem Solving in Computing II. Counts as 1 ISM module.
- With agreement of the course lecturer, students may convert an existing level 3 or 4 SoC module into an ISM following these guidelines.
